Dawn is the best possible time to spot platypus out in the wild, as these shy animals often keep out of sight. You will be picked up from your accommodation in Byron Bay early in the morning and driven to a secluded creek where you’ll start your adventure. This walking tour is taken at a relaxed pace so you’re able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the surrounding nature. You’re likely to see a platypus or two, lots of beautiful birds and maybe even some koalas. After your walk you will enjoy a lovely picnic in nature.

It is possible to see platypus at any time of the day, but our best chance is just after dawn
Your guide will lead you at a gentle pace, showing you what to look for and sharing insights about this much-loved and quirky Australian animal.
We usually see one or two platypus, loads of birds and sometimes even koalas. After
watching the Platypus have their breakfast we relax with ours – a picnic by the creek – before
returning to Byron Bay.
We can’t guarantee platypus sightings on this tour, but don’t worry. If we don’t see them,
we take you on another day, free.

Pick up from Byron Bay accommodation and drive to the special platypus area. From there we start the 90- minute easy walk along the creek looking for platypus.
Please make it known if you have any special dietary requirements when you book.
Changes to reservations for tickets can be made until 2 days prior to the date scheduled. Reservations may be re-scheduled by the operator of the activity due to reasons such as weather, minimum participation requirements, mechanical issues or other interruptions beyond their control.
